Crawford Baptie

Crawford BaptiePerhaps better known for his association with Falkirk and Hamilton Accies rather than the Steelmen, Crawford Baptie joined Motherwell in January 1986, in a deal which seen Rab Stewart head to Brockville. Baptie was a popular player in Scotland during the mid 80’s, he possessed a large frame and was a powerful midfielder who could often be deployed as a forward. Despite being a regular in the Motherwell side during 1986 he would make a swift return to Falkirk, Crawford later stated it was his refusal to become a full timer at Fir Park as he had a great job in the motor trade that had incensed boss Tommy McLean. After his playing days were over he rejoined Falkirk for a third time but on this occasion it was to become their general manager.
