Giles Coke

Giles CokeTough tackling Midfielder, Giles Coke joined the club on a free transfer in July 2009 after leaving English side Northampton Town, he was new manager Jim Gannon’s third signing as he sought out to rebuild a side to compete in the SPL as many faces left over the summer.

Giles would make his debut in the Europa League Qualifier against Steaua Bucharest in Romania but unfortunately the side lost 3-0. He would go on to prove to be a consistent performer, he was a strong forceful player, firm on the tackle and looked dangerous on the attack. He made his SPL debut against St Johnstone on the opening day of the season in a 2-2 draw at McDiarmid Park. He wouldn’t score his first goal for the club until the penultimate game of the season when he scored a double in the amazing 6-6 draw against Hibernian, where Motherwell rallied back from 6-2 down.

Giles did have the option of a one year contract extension but he turned it down in order to sign for English League One side Sheffield Wednesday.
