Mark Gillespie

Goalkeeper, Mark Gillespie joined the club at the start of the 2018/19 season from Walsall. A solid shot stopper he made a name for himself while plying his trade with Carlisle United when he put in a fantastic performance against Liverpool in a League Cup tie in 2015, the game went into penalties where he saved both Phillip Coutinho and Adam Lallana’s efforts.

At Fir Park he was initially second choice as Trevor Carson firmly had both hands on the number one jersey but when the Northern Ireland international was struck down by a serious injury, Mark stepped up to the plate. The Englishman made his debut in the opening day of the 2018/19 campaign where he kept a clean sheet against Edinburgh City in a League Cup tie. He made quite an impression early in his ‘Well career when he managed to save two spot kicks, firstly one against Celtic then ten days later against St Johnstone.
