Kallum Higginbotham

Kallum Higginbotham joined the club on loan on the 9th January 2013, Stuart McCall was keen to add to his attacking options after the sale of Jamie Murphy to Sheffield United only a few days prior. Kallum would make his debut exactly a month after signing as Motherwell went down to a 0-2 defeat against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. He seemed an exciting prospect as he was keen to get forward and was willing to take on defenders in an old fashioned traditional winger mould, however the surprise signing of James McFadden during the season would hinder Kallum’s involvement somewhat and the young Englishman would only start 3 games coming off the bench on 7 occasions. He did however score one of the goals of the season, in March 2013 as ‘Well played host to Hibernian, he would find the net with a sensational Scissor Kick as a tremendous performance by Motherwell secured a 4-1 victory.

Higginbotham would put in a fine performance the following season at Fir Park with his new employers Partick Thistle, he netted a fine solo run and a penalty, the ‘Well defence struggled to keep him at bay in the 2nd half of the game and with only 5 minutes remaining, Thistle boss Alan Archibald decided to take the attacker off and go defensive only for this move to back fire as the Steelmen would net twice in three minutes to secure a 4-3 win.
