Jamie Semple

A product of the Motherwell Academy, Jamie Semple joined the club in July 2014. The talented forward is comfortable playing in a variety of attacking positions, at the age of 14 he turned out for the clubs under 20’s side such was his promise. He has also been capped by Scotland at under 17, 18, and 19 levels.

Semple made his Motherwell debut on the 27th April 2019 as the side played host to Dundee, the 17-year-old came on as a late substitute for Gboly Ariyibi in the dying embers of the game as the sides were drawing 3-3, he promptly made a positive impression when he swept in a low cross which was converted on the second attempt by another Academy graduate David Turnbull who sealed the winner on the 95th minute.

Jamie would enjoy a run of games in the side during the 2019/20 League Cup group stages where he played his parts in comfortable wins over Queen of the South, Dumbarton, and Annan Athletic. He would however struggle to carve out a regular first-team berth before being farmed out on loan to League Two side Cove Rangers.

It was perhaps a bit of a surprise when his name was on the list of players released at the end of the 2020/21 season as not only had he just turned 20 a week or so earlier but he seemed to be one of the Academy graduates that were on the cusp of breaking into the first team. He signed for East Fife in August 2021 and enjoyed a scoring debut.
