Goalkeeper, William Stannage would only make two appearances for Motherwell. He was reserve to Legendary ‘Well Keeper Alan McClory, this being said it was always going to be hard for William to hold down a regular spot in the first team. McClory actually played 39 times in the 1924/25 season and he would keep the sequence going until October 1926 when he was selected to represent the Scottish League against Ireland. Stannage of course would fill the void for Motherwell that day before departing the club.
