Jimmy, who was known as ‘Buster’ joined Motherwell from Kello Rovers in 1943 as a centre-forward after impressing the club officials after a short trial. The Cumnock man had the distinction of scoring the clubs first official post war goal, netting twice in a 4-2 defeat by Rangers. He made 29 appearances for Motherwell during the season with a fantastic goals return, finding the back of the net no fewer than 24 times in all competitions. Buster also played for Chesterfield, Queen of the South, and Bradford City before ending his career at Carlisle under the legendary Bill Shankly.
