Allan Campbell

Allan Campbell is a product go the Motherwell Academy. The young midfielder was part of the talented group of players who won the Scottish Youth FA Cup Final in 2016 at Hampden against Hearts.

Campbell got his first taste of senior football during the 2016/17 season in the newly revamped Scottish Challenge Cup where Premiership Colt sides were allowed to compete in the competition for the first time. Allan of course featured in a few games, firstly the youthful ‘Well side knocked out League 2 side Edinburgh City but fell to a defeat against local rivals Airdrieonians despite running them close.

The midfielder would make his senior debut during the same campaign, where he came on as a substitute in the dying embers of the game in a fantastic 4-1 victory over Ross County at Fir Park. His first full start came as a surprise as he was pitched in to face Hamilton Accies on the 31st December 2016, he quickly endeared himself to the Motherwell support by putting in a few crunching but fair challenges, it really was a marvellous performance considering the Steelmen had a man sent off midway through the first half but managed to snatch a deserved leveller in stoppage time via Louis Moult in a 1-1 draw.

It wouldn’t be until the later part of the season until Allan resurface in the first team but he enjoyed a strong end to the season playing in a number of matches, he would also score his first senior goal with a neat header against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in a nervy relegation tussle.
