Midfielder, Brian Coyne was born in Glasgow in December 1959, his football career started with St Roch before being called up by Celtic aged only seventeen. His Bhoys debut came soon afterwards, but unlucky for him he broke his ankle later that season and he was unable to sustain the breakthrough at Parkhead. He then took his talents elsewhere and he ended up at Shrewsbury Town in June 1979, but he was only able to count one appearance for the Shrews before coming back north to join the Steelmen. With the mighty ‘Well he fared better and he won a First Division Championship medal in 1982. He made only 35 appearances before leaving the club. He later served Worcester City as a player and Newtown of Wales as a player/manager.
