Jamie Doyle started his senior career at Firhill with Partick Thistle, he proved to be a talented midfielder in Maryhill as he would go onto play in over 150 league games. It was Tommy McLean who brought the fiery character to Fir Park in 1984 but he couldn’t really recapture the form he had shown with the Jags. Jamie made his Motherwell debut in December 1984 in what proved to be a dismal afternoon as the Steelmen fell to 2-4 reversal at the hands of Meadowbank Thistle. It was the general consensusĀ amongst all fans that for some reason Jamie just didnāt seem to fit into the scheme of things at Fir Park and in 1987 he made a brief return to Thistle.
