Born in Dumbarton in November 1876, John ‘Jack’ Fraser joined Motherwell from his hometown club. He would only stay with the ‘Well for one season and that was in 1897/98 and it was to prove utmost disappointing for the club as they finished bottom of the Second Division. As a winger his goals to games ratio wasn’t too bad as in 12 starts, he netted 6 goals. After the campaign came to a close, John headed south to join one of England’s first clubs in the shape of Notts County. He would also play for Newcastle United, St Mirren, Southampton and finally Dundee before bringing down the curtain in his career. John died on October 1st 1952, aged 75.
