Norrie was a speedy and clever dribbler and when on his game, he was a brilliant player. He began his career with Maxwelltown Volunteers and from there he moved on to Kilmarnock. He signed for Chelsea from Lincoln City in 1907. It was from Chelsea that he signed for Motherwell. He would only spend one season at Fir Park and played in a struggling ‘Well side that finished third bottom of the league. Norrie was selected to play in a trial match for the Anglo-Scots v The Home Scots, but was never selected to play for his country. In August 1919, Norrie signed for the newly formed Queen of the South and played in the Club’s first-ever competitive match, a Scottish Qualifying Cup first round tie with Thornhill at Palmerston Park.
