David Goldie

Following the loss of ‘Well favourite, Ian St John to Liverpool, Motherwell had a huge task of finding a replacement. One such player was David Goldie who joined from Kilsyth Juniors & would make a handful of appearances for the club. He made his debut against St Mirren and Motherwell ran out 2-1 winners, he also had his first goal under his belt early in the 1962/63 season against local rivals Airdrie. But with Joe McBride and Bobby Roberts at the club, David couldn’t cope with the competition and never really broke into the first team picture, he left the club having played in seven league games and netting a solitary goal. His brother Hugh was on the books at Partick Thistle in the late 50s.
