Alex McLeish signed Eric Garcin on a Bosman transfer during season 1997/98. Eric was excellent at dead ball situations and was also quite a skilful player, he scored a cracker against Hibernian with a free kick, and Motherwell went on to win 6-2. Unfortunately for Eric, he was one of 17 players to be released by the new Finnish manager, Harri Kampman at the end of the season as he wanted to put his own stamp on the squad. He joined Shaun McSkimming, Willie Falconer and Tommy Coyne, all going to Dundee, Eric however wouldn’t enjoy much success at Dens Park as he would only play in a handful of games before fading out of Scottish football.
