Signed on a three month loan deal from English Championship side Crystal Palace. The 6 foot English man seemed highly regarded by Mark McGhee as he had earlier enquired to Palace about their prized youngster’s availability but this was thwarted as the London side had high hopes for him. A month or so later Mark got his man and that was on the August 2007 transfer deadline. Pitched straight into the squad, he made his debut from the bench only a few days later as Motherwell entertained Hearts at Fir Park. Sadly though a poor performance from the Steelman seen them crash to a 2-0 defeat. As the side started to pick up form and even challenge for the 3rd spot in the SPL and at times being only a matter of points behind the Old Firm, Lewis would find it difficult to make an appearance in the First team as Porter, Clarkson and McCormack were on fine form Up front. He departed the club just as the year turned, seemingly just disappearing from the scene, failing to live up to the exciting reputation he was given. The Crystal Palace management team had changed when he returned and soon thereafter Lewis was sold to Millwall for £150.000. He was soon typically amongst the goals at the New Den only a month or so after leaving Scotland.
