Archibald Hastie

Archibald Hastie made his bow in the Claret and Amber in the 1937/38 campaign as a strong ‘Well side finished 5th in a league. Alex struggled to impose himself at Fir Park as the team had some top quality players such as Ogilvie, Blair, Wales, Bremner, McKenzie and Stevenson who of course were part of the famous title winning team of 1931/32. By the season end, Alex had featured in only 8 first team games and managed to get on the score sheet on 3 occasions. He didn’t stay the whole 1938/39 season, he would make only one appearance before moving onto English side Bradford City. In England his luck was no different as he found himself on the fringes as between 1938 and 1945 he played in 31 games scoring 9 times. Like many others his career was interrupted by the outbreak of World War 2.
