Kenny Lyall

Kenny Lyall joined Motherwell in December 1983, he arrived at the club alongside Kenny Black as the youngsters were part of a deal which saw goalkeeper Nicky Walker head the opposite way to Ibrox in exchange.

Lyall was a talented left-footed midfielder who had made a dozen first team appearances for the Govan side, so big things were expected at Fir Park as he would be given the platform to showcase his ability with regular first team football. He made his debut on the 17th December 1983 in a 1-3 reversal at the hands of St Johnstone, he scored his first goal for the club in a 1-0 win over St Mirren.

Unfortunately he failed to make the expected impression and a year later he was involved in another swap as he was part of the deal which brought Ray Blair to Lanarkshire from St Johnstone.
