Kirkie Lawson started his career with Blantyre Vics, where he won a Scottish Junior Cup winners medal in 1970. He was a striker who was an excellent finisher and showed nice touches. Motherwell quickly snapped him up and in 89 matches he was to net 25 goals. In 1973 he left to join Falkirk because Graham and Goldthorp were the preferred two attackers and Kirkie wasn’t in the manager’s plans. Three years later he returned to Lanarkshire this time with Hamilton Accies, he scored 6 times in 26 games at Douglas Park before going back to the Juniors with Shettleston.
