Stefan Lindqvist

Stefan LindqvistA former Swedish internationalist, Stefan Lindqvist was the first signing of new Finnish manager Harri Kampman arriving in March 1998, a midfielder he came with a good pedigree as he had five senior caps for his country scoring the one goal, he had won a number of honours for IFK Goteborg and he also had Champions League experience, only seven months prior to joining the Steelmen he had helped his side pull off a fantastic 3-0 win over Rangers followed by a credible 1-1 draw at Ibrox.

Stefan made his debut against Dundee United at Fir Park in a 1-0 win, a few weeks later he managed to rescue a point for the side as he scored a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw vs Kilmarnock. Despite his initial good impression his later appearances ended with a 1-4 defeat against Celtic, 1-3 against Dunfermline Athletic and 2-3 against St Johnstone.

As the 1997/98 season came to a close, Kampman knew the side needed refreshing and Lindqvist was one of nineteen players who were allowed to leave.
