Angus Moffat started his football career in England with Southampton, but he returned back north to join Motherwell because he was homesick. The seventeen-year-old made his ‘Well debut against Hibernian at Easter Road. He was a tricky winger, who showed great skill on the ball. He scored his first goal in a 4-1 win over St Mirren in December 1965.
In the 1966/67 season substitutes were allowed for the first time and Angus was Motherwell’s first ever sub to be used, this came in a League Cup tie at Dunfermline Athletic where they won 2-1, not only was Angus the first ever sub, he was the first scoring one as well. In 1968 he was sold to American side Detroit Cougars.
