Davie Main

Davie MainDavie Main joined Motherwell straight from Wishaw High School in April 1970, the youngster had many clubs both north and south of the border all vying for his services but he opted to stay local and play for his boyhood heroes where he would sign a part time contract.

At schoolboy level he had won numerous honours as well as several at amateur level. Davie arrived at Fir Park with tons of hype but ultimately he would be another talented player that would fail to live up to the expectation as he struggled to nail down a regular starting berth.

Initially a full back but converted into a midfielder, Main would enjoy more success with Albion Rovers where he would make well over 250 first team appearances with the Cliftonhill side.
