Ian MacDonald joined Motherwell in the close season of 1984. He is probably better known for his spell with Partick Thistle rather than his Motherwell stint. He only played 13 games for the Steelmen before returning to Maryhill. He joined Partick Thistle six months after leaving. Later in his career, he joined Greenock Morton.
