Ian McFadyen



Ian McFadyenIan was the son of the Motherwell legend Willie McFadyen. Like his dad, Ian was a native of Wishaw. A student at St Andrews University, Ian was a clever schoolboy footballer, he began his career with Dundee Ashdale Amateurs before moving to Tannadice to Join Dundee United. Bobby Ancell convinced Ian to come to Fir Park in 1954 and he played as both Full Back and Inside Forward. Willie later managed Dundee United and it was while he was at Tannadice, that he signed his son Ian, after a five year spell with Motherwell he helped the Arabs gain promotion in his first season back at Tannadice.
