Lee McCulloch

Lee McCulloch was a product of the Motherwell Youth System. His early career was not great and his progress in the first team was rather slow. He picked up bookings regularly and made a lot of unnecessary tackles and a lot were poorly timed. He slowly but surely started to develop into a powerful forward, the turning point in his career came in a 6-2 win over Hibernian at Fir Park, when he netted 2 goals. Under Billy Davies, he started making more first team appearances and he eventually turned into a regular goal scorer and a pivotal part of the side. Lee was capped 14 times by Scotland at under 21 level. He attracted a huge bid from Hearts but this was turned down. He later joined English side Wigan Athletic and he left with team mate Stephen McMillan which netted the club £1.2 million. Lee was capped 14 times by Scotland at under 21 level and 18 as a full international.
