Dale Shirkie was a product of the Motherwell FC youth academy. The forward would make his first team debut on the 25th February 2014, coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 defeat to St. Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. He did appear on the bench again for the Steelmen but his first team matches were limited to that singular game. He joined Ayr United in the summer of 2014 where he would stay for one season before heading to junior football with Troon.
