Harry Smith

Towering forward Harry Smith arrived at Fir Park in January 2021, new ‘Well boss Graham Alexander looked to put his own stamp on the playing squad as his arrival allowed Jordan White to move onto relegation rivals Ross County, Smith arrived in Lanarkshire on loan from English outfit Northampton Town where he had found himself out of favour.

Sadly the Englishman would struggle to make a real impression with Motherwell as injury would essentially end his season before he managed to stake his claim in the side.

Harry made his debut as a substitute in a 2-0 defeat against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, he looked a handy addition as added a real physical threat and height advantage but in truth, he would only make a further four appearances for the club all of which came from the bench. In fact, he was perhaps unfortunate not to score as he was denied an injury-time equaliser against Celtic at Parkhead, this would prove to be his last act for the side as less than a month after he arrived in ML1 he was crocked and wouldn’t be seen from again.

The 2020/21 season proved to be a massively frustrating time, not only was the world trying to deal with the fight against Covid-19 but clubs were feeling the pinch with no fans allowed to attend games, for the Steelmen in particular the side had found themselves embroiled in a relegation battle which was exasperated by a horrific injury list which curtailed the side all season, when Harry arrived in January he came alongside a number of other players in the shape of Eddie Nolan and Sam Foley, both of which would suffer injuries and would see them make little to no impact.

After returning to his parent club he was sold for an undisclosed sum to fellow English side Leyton Orient,
