David Taylor



David Taylor only plied his trade at Fir Park for one season as he joined the club on loan from Rangers. A consistent performer throughout the 1909/10 season he was capable of playing as a left back or at centre half, he would play in all of the club’s 37 first team games before returning to Ibrox. Taylor’s debut in the ‘Well jersey seen him line up in a side which was trounced 3-1 by Clyde at Shawfield on 16th August 1909. His first goal for the club came in his third appearance as Partick Thistle were the visitors to Fir Park on 28th August 1909, the game finished all square, 2-2.

Taylor would forge a great career in the game which would bring a number of honours, in 1911 he won the FA Cup with Bradford City, he repeated this feat only three years later in 1914 when he lifted it with Burnley.

During the First World War as his career was interrupted, he had guest appearances for both halves of the Old Firm, Ayr United, Falkirk and Chelsea, when he retired as a player he dabbled in management having spells with St Johnstone, Dunfermline Athletic and Carlisle United.
