Bobby Watson

Bobby WatsonBobby Watson signed for Rangers in 1963, while there he won a Scottish Cup Winner’s badge in 1966. Bobby wasn’t a first team regular at Ibrox, but in the 6 years he played with Rangers he managed 83 appearances and netted 7 times. So in 1970 he joined Motherwell in a three – player deal which saw Bobby and Brian Heron come to Fir Park and Peter McCloy move to Ibrox. Motherwell manager Bobby Howitt soon installed Bobby as his club captain. He retired rather prematurely from playing in 1976 to concentrate on his steel stockholding business, but he was unable to keep away from football. He was Airdrie manager for a spell before joining the ‘Well again as manager in November 1983, but he left less than a year later as the club were relegated. By the late-eighties he was on the board of Partick Thistle as part of a group seeking to revive the club.
