Match Report

Both sides endured a marathon Scottish Cup Semi Final as the game was all square after 90 minutes, Eddie Turnbull had the Hibees in front but ‘Well full back Willie Kilmarnock levelled things up from the spot. The match would be played for an additional 52 minutes as both sides looked for the decisive winner, sadly for the Steelmen this came for the men from Edinburgh, a clearance from keeper John Johnston was met by Hibs centre-half Hugh Howie who hit it flush from around the 60 yard mark and it nestled in the net, a fluke goal which sent Motherwell crashing out. This of course would be the only goal Howie would net in his club career.
