1994/95 League

Following up from the 3rd place in the League the previous season many changes at Fir Park had went down as Tommy McLean left and a surprise choice in the shape of Alex McLeish was appointed new gaffer. The likes of influential players Sieb Dykstra and Phil O’Donnell were sold and big “Eck” set about rebuilding his own side. The campaign would be one of the most successful in years as the side finished 2nd but a huge gap of 15 points separated the side from winners Rangers. The side at times produced some amazing displays but on occasions it felt that the side would totally go off the tracks. The biggest highlight was going 16 games unbeaten after losing to Rangers on opening day. Most fans felt if the club retained the services of O’Donnell and Dykstra that the side perhaps could have won the League on this occasion.
