Jack Ostler was a dominant centre-half who played before the turn of the century. He signed for Newcastle upon leaving Fir Park in a joint deal along with Tom Stewart for £200 in 1896. While with Newcastle, he helped them to promotion in 1898. After this, he joined Middlesbrough on loan and then retired the very same year.
