David Goldie

Following the loss of ‘Well favourite, Ian St John to Liverpool, Motherwell had a huge task of finding a replacement. One such player was David Goldie who joined from Kilsyth Juniors & would make a handful of appearances for the club. He made his debut against St Mirren and Motherwell ran out 2-1 winners, he also had his first goal under his belt early in the 1962/63 season against local rivals Airdrie. But with Joe McBride and Bobby Roberts at the club, David couldnโ€™t cope with the competition and never really broke into the first team picture, he left the club having played in seven league games and netting a solitary goal. His brother Hugh was on the books at Partick Thistle in the late 50s.
