In the latter part of season 1974/75 Motherwell had used 25 players as they desperately fought for a top ten finish so that they could guarantee a place in the inaugural Premier Division, Robert Hamilton was one of many players who would feature during that campaign, he played his part in the final 5 games of that season, as the Steelmen managed to get the 6 point they required. The forward had joined Motherwell from Baillieston Juniors in 1974, he made 9 first team appearances for the club without making any real impact in first team affairs, in 1975 Bobby made a swift return to Baillieston.
