Alex Menzies joined the club on loan in 1903 from Hearts, Alex Menzies was a talented forward player. Born in 1882 in Blantyre, he was a shining light for local outfit Blantyre Vic. Upon turning pro he opted to head to Edinburgh to join hearts rather than join a local side like Motherwell or Hamilton. He featured early in the 1903/04 season netting a few goals against, Airdrie, Rangers and finally Dundee, all of whom were games in which the club would lose.
