Davie Baird was probably best known with his association to Heart of Midlothian rather than Motherwell, at Tynecastle, Baird won the Scottish Cup three times, playing in three different positions in each of the finals (1891, 1896 and 1901). Davie joined the club in 1903 when the board strengthen the squad as promotion from Division 2 was achieved and everyone associated with the club were looking forward to the debut in Scotland’s top Division. During the season Motherwell struggled and finished 2nd bottom. Davie would only feature in one game before retiring in 1904. In 1926 he would become a director at Hearts, a position he would hold for ten years. He died on 19th March 1946.
