Winger Ian Blair would only be on the books at Fir Park for a short period and only made two outings in claret and amber. Joining from Clyde where he was more or less a fringe player, he made his Motherwell debut in September 1963 vs St Johnstone in a 3-1 defeat taking the place of Bobby Roberts who had transferred to Leicester City just days previously. Ian would follow this appearance up by featuring in the following league fixture in a stalemate versus Partick Thistle. Having made little impact and not really impressing management that he could replace the void left by Roberts he would fade from the first team scene and at the end of the season he would be released alongside many other fringe players. Ian would later join Stranraer before dropping into the juniors with Irvine Meadow.
