James ‘Junior’ Burns joined the club in 1982 signing from Motherwell Boys Club. Unfortunately this young winger was at Fir Park at a bad time as the club were going through a transitional period. However in October 1983 he would score the winner at Ibrox as Motherwell defeated Rangers 2-1 a result which would ultimately cost Rangers manager John Greig his job. Junior had represented Scotland at U18 level. He played twelve first team games scoring the one goal. He was released by the club in 1984.
