Peter Carr joined the club in 1978 after enjoying a spell in America with a club named The New England Tea Men, the midfielder never really got the chance to showcase his talents as the 1978/79 season was a disaster for the Steelmen as relegation would occur after a miserable campaign. The side would field no fewer than 32 different members of personnel throughout the season with Peter making 8 appearances all of which came in the last three months of 1978. He made his debut in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Hibernian in October. It wasn’t long before the Englishman headed back to the United States for a second spell with New England.
