Local lad, Isaac started his career as a youth with Rangers but struggled to break into the first team. A skillful and determined player he had attracted a whole host of clubs who were keen to get his signature. An incident while on tour with Rangers led to a dispute with the club and manager Jock Wallace allowed him to leave. Motherwell snapped up the highly rated midfielder in 1976, Farrell would struggle to make any real impact as he only made a solitary league appearance with this coming in the opening day of the 1976/77 season against Kilmarnock, he did however make a handful of appearances in the league cup but despite offering so much promise he ultimately failed to deliver and before too long he departed Fir Park for pastures new.
