Signed for Motherwell in 1926 from Albion Rovers, David Hutchison was a talented Inside-Forward who in his two year spell with the club played in 33 first team matches scoring 5 times. Seemed to lack the consistent goal demand needed to compete at the highest level. His debut season he was an almost ever present playing 28 times helping the side finish 2nd in the League. Over the summer of 1927 he did enjoy the clubs tour of Spain, he netted against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in a 2-2 draw and again against Real Madrid in a 3-1 win. The 1927/28 Season he would feature no more than 6 times before moving onto pastures new, trying his hand with Carlisle United.
