Jim Hunter played 12 games for Newcastle before leaving to sign for Motherwell on a free which didn’t go down well at St James’ Park. Upon leaving Fir Park, he signed for Falkirk before re-joining Newcastle who paid £3,500 for his services. When Jim wanted to leave the Magpies, they ensured no-one signed him by putting such a high price tag on any potential transfer. He eventually got his wish and left to ply his trade in the States.
