Inside-left, Jimmy Irving only made two appearances for the Motherwell, coming against Hearts and Queen’s Park, he failed to score in both games and he soon drifted from the Fir Park scene. Irving was standing in for Brown at centre forward early on in season 1946/47. He would later play under former ‘Well legend Willie McFadyen at Dundee United but he failed to make any real impact at Tannadice.
