Bobby Jones joined the Steelmen in the 1962/63 Campaign, coming straight from junior football where he was a regular performer for Larkhall Thistle. He never really made his mark in the Motherwell first team and would only cap 3 appearances for the club. His debut was a 2-0 defeat at the hands of St Mirren, Secondly a 1-1 draw at home against Partick Thistle, then finally a 2-2 draw away to Third Lanark, all games Bobby played in were back to back. The competition for places was all too much as the likes of Matt Thomson, John Martis, Willie McCallum, Charlie Aitken and Pat Delaney made life difficult as the squad certainly had a talented range of players in all positions. After only 12 Months at Fir Park, Bobby joined 2nd Division side Montrose.
