Sandy Jones was yet another player to fit into one game wonder band. In the early 1960s Motherwell were experimenting with a few centre-forwards, few of whom fitted the bill. One of them was Sandy Jones who had made just a single outing before moving on to Somerset Park with Ayr United. Sandy was signed from Coltness as a 19 year old, he played his only game in a 2-1 win over St Mirren in March 1962. He did however have the privilege of scoring a Motherwell goal this coming in a friendship trophy against Nimes Olympique and scored Motherwell’s goal in the 2-1 defeat at Fir Park.
