Jim Lindsay signed in 1976 from Fir Park Boys Club. Much was expected from this winger but he failed to live up to expectations and he moved to Ayr United in 1979 in a complex deal which saw Stuart Rennie, Jim Lindsay and £75,000 head to Somerset in exchange for Hugh Sproat. Jim’s debut came in a Premier League tie in April 1977, when the Steelmen somehow managed to play 8 league games in that month. His first goal for the club was a penalty in a 2-1 win over Greenock Morton at Cappielow.
