Born in Motherwell in April 1953, Willie Leishman joined Motherwell in 1973 straight from Vale Academy. The defender only made a handful of appearances for the side in his two years with the club. He enjoyed more success with Lanarkshire neighbours Albion Rovers whom he joined after his departure from Fir Park, he made over 150 appearances for the Coatbridge side over two spells. Willie had also represented Dunfermline Athletic which was sandwiched between his time at Cliftonhill.
