Steve Mungall is perhaps better known for his association with English side Tranmere Rovers rather than his spell in Lanarkshire with Motherwell. Signed from Chapelhall in 1976, he made his debut near the end of the 1976/77 season when he featured against Aberdeen (twice) and Hearts.
The Bellshill born full back was just beginning to show that he could be a handy player to have in the squad before he was told to Tranmere in July 1979. Mungall went on to have a lengthy career on Merseyside serving the club up until 1996 where he made over 500 league appearances as he helped the club rise up the English leagues. Steve enjoyed many trips to Wembley and after retiring from as a player he served the club further as a coach up until 2000. He had a brief foray into management with Chester City.
