Donald came to Motherwell in 1938, he joined from Whitburn Juniors and he was to stay at Fir Park for 13 years. He was a right-half to remember, it is probably true to say that his finest hour in a claret and amber jersey was in the side which won the Scottish League Cup in 1950/51. When Charlie Cox arrived on the scene, Donald’s appearances became fewer and fewer. He moved to Hearts in 1951 to be their assistant trainer.
