At just 18 years of age, McMillan made his senior debut in somewhat surprising circumstances, the club had been suffering from an injury crisis, Jack alongside Ross MacLean were pitched in for their first starts against Celtic at Parkhead, despite both young lads putting in decent performances the side fell to a 2-0 defeat.
Despite being a natural right sided defender, Jacks early ‘Well career seen him deployed mainly as a left back covering for veteran Stevie Hammell, in his first season he made 15 appearances for the club but despite enjoying a breakthrough season this came to a halt when the club suffered a disastrous defeat at the hands of Dundee in a relegation dogfight where the side were 5-1 down by half time. U20’s manager Stephen Craigan felt that the young defender had let his high standards slide.
Jack wouldn’t resurface for the first team until early in the 2017/18 campaign where he featured from the start in a 2-1 win over Edinburgh City in a League Cup group tie, this would prove to be his last game for the club. Soon there after he was farmed out on loan to Livingston in August 2017 and the move would be made permanent come January.
