Jackie McInallyJackie McInally joined Motherwell in December 1967, the 30 year old forward was added to the squad as manager Bobby Howitt wanted to bring in an experienced inside-forward to the club to complement the youngster playing alongside him, it was estimated £3,000 fee that was paid to acquire his services from Rugby Park.

He was a tall powerful player who possessed a long loping deceptive stride and was a real goal snatcher, he quickly won over the Motherwell support. Jackie had made his name at Kilmarnock where he won a league medal but played in several European fixtures and scored 127 goals in just 287 matches, he gained a lot of useful experience in Killies ventures into European football competitions.

Despite scoring many important goals for the Steelmen, one in particular stands out, when the side travelled through to face Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park in October 1970, McInally scored a from a stunning over head kick which sealed the victory, one of those moments that will be long remembered by those lucky enough to be in attendance to witness it. From Motherwell, he moved to Hamilton Accies on a free transfer in 1973.

His son Alan became a professional footballer only five years after his father had retired, he represented Ayr United, Celtic, Aston Villa, Bayern Munich and Kilmarnock before moving into the media sector most notably working with Sky Sports.
